I've
had sex before. Can I be abstinent now?
Absolutely. Many young people realize that they are not ready for
sex after they have done it the first time. No matter how many times
you've had sex before, you can decide to be abstinent now.
Can
I have sexual feelings and still be abstinent?
You can have sexual feelings and choose not to act on them. To keep
your limits, be clear with yourself and your boyfriend or girlfriend.
Avoid hanging out alone (this can make it harder to stick to your
limits). Spend time with friends or family instead.
Doesn't
abstinence mean just saying no?
Sexual abstinence does mean saying no to sex. But it also means
saying yes to other things - like yourself, your health and your
future.
